About the 2014 Main Stage Performers

FRIDAY

Platte Valley Skunk Runners

All the way from Ogallala, the Skunk Runners will get you moving with bluegrass and jug-band style music ranging from the extremely traditional to bluegrass-tinged covers of some classic rock and folk songs. Instrumentation includes kazoo, mandolin, banjo, guitar, dobro, bass, and fiddle. Kazoo!

Halden Wofford & The Hi*Beams

One of Colorado's most popular and enduring acts, the Hi*Beams celebrate 13 years together in 2013. Rootsy but not revivalist, the Hi*Beams' rollicking stage act features rocked-up Texas honky tonk and western swing, equal parts original and classic. Whether appearing on A Prairie Home Companion, at regional festivals and concerts, or at funky clubs from New Mexico to Montana and all points in between, the Hi*Beams are always high-energy, danceable and entertaining.

SATURDAY

The Mrs. Dunbars

You know them from Flatwater favorite Star Belle... and they’re back! Emily Dunbar and Hope Dunbar return to the main stage! Out of small Nebraska towns comes a big sound grown out of love, laughter and friendship. Since they didn't hear anyone else telling their story, these women set out to write it themselves. Armed with ukuleles, harmony and the truth (kinda), Emily & Hope love to share the love and have a great time doing it.

The Apologetics

Hastings' own, The Apologetics formed with one goal in mind: to have some fun. Vocalist Beth Funkey, Keyboardist Bruce Cutright, Drummer/Percussionist Brian Cutright, and Bassist Steve Bever have enjoyed entertaining audiences at Hastings venues like the Bistro Below and the Lark. They delight in drawing audiences into their music by playing a mix of classic songs from jazz, blues, rock and funk.

Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line

These musicians are a traveling Carnival of acoustic Americana. The high-energy, Nashville-based quintet perform Struthers’ original story songs with tight, three-part harmonies, fiddle, claw-hammer banjo, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. Struthers was catapulted into the spotlight when she led her band to a blue ribbon at the prestigious 2010 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition (previous winners include Nickel Creek and The Dixie Chicks). Struthers’ songs are as steeped in American history, and as well crafted, as the beautiful vintage dresses she wears on stage.
